...gear.will ihave to buy a new trans? It runs perfect after changing into 5th gear. It is automatic

I'm not an expert in practical auto mechanics and I don't know much about how an Automatic tranny works but that sounds like it could just be the clutch slipping which would be substantially cheaper to fix than a getting a whole new transmission.

My daughter has a 2002 Honda civic and her transmission just went out on Friday. Unbelievable I thought those cars are suppose to last forever. I would not buy another one.

Does the transmission have enough fluid in it? It should be clean and red. If it looks or smells burned, the transmission is probably finished. The Accord is a very popular car, so you could probably get a used transmission from a wrecked car and have it swapped in. I don't know how much it would cost but probably no more than 1500 total. A 2000 accord that you have only around $3000 invested in, with a newer transmission still sounds like a pretty good deal if the rest of the car is in good shape.

I had 2000 accord lx,and at 112k miles .the tranny went out ...Honda Corp. of America helped me out with the tranny ( I was over the warranty with few 11`s miles) which was around $2000,and I paid the lapor which was $1125.....so I think if you are willing to pay few $$ go ,and get the car it is a great car,and trust me nothing like honda .......
