Car companies LOVE to exagerate the MPG. the tests are heavily modified so that the driver will use as little fuel as possible. for example, try driving your car below 2k revs and make sure u never make use of your brakes and use the momentum to get aroung the curve. im sure if u follow these rules u will reach the MPG stated

1. Check tires' pressure
2. Check brake system, make sure the tire move freely. 3. Check air intake filter, clean it as needed. 4. Check spark plugs, if you find them wet and black, it mean the fuel is too rich, take it to the workshop for adjustment. good luck |
The EPA estimated gas mileage is usually ver yaccurate on the window sticker. There are 2 possibilties. YOU need to slow down and not drive so fast. Another is that you are buying cheap gas. Alot of gas stations are putting a good ratio of ethenol in the gasoline. If you know much about ethanol it burns much faster than gasoline. They do this to cut costs and increase profits. We are a profit driven society and that may be the culprit. Try buying gas at an Exxon Mobil station or maybe a Chevron. Stay away from the large chain stations and Wal-Mart for your gas. Those are usually your biggest culprits of "gas-cutting".
Another possibility is that the stations have started rigging their pumps to show more gas being pumped and overcharging consumers. That is a little less wide than the other. At any rate slow down and buy good gasoline products. |
