Neutral Safety Switch 92 Honda Accord
 

I have a 1992 Honda Accord. Whenever the D4 shift indicator light blinks, the car won't start. When it does start, it shifts rather rough. I have discovered two possible ways to maneuver my way around this situation. First was to disconnect the battery. Most times, that works, and the car will start fine. Obviously this is obnoxious, and don't want to continue doing it. The second way was to keep turning the key on and off, several times, and eventually the accessories would light up with out the shift indicator light blinking. This problem seriously began to annoy me, so I started doing research. First, I replaced the TCU, with no change in the problem. Now, I'm lost and confused, and I'm thinking that it must be the neutral safety switch, but have no idea where it would be located, and will that have any effect on the hard shifting?

Depending on the speed of the blinking D4 light is which option I'll choose to start the car. If it's slow, I can turn the key a few times and it'll work. Fast, and I have to disconnect the battery. If it does manage to start with the light blinking, it shifts terribly slow, as if there is no power.

Clearly it's not the TCU, so it must be a relay or switch somewhere.

Ideas? Answers? Please help.
