Sudden acceleration in 2002 Honda Accord?

On three occasions I have had a scary occurrence of sudden acceleration and stepping on the brake does not stop the car. I have had to throw the shift into neutral or park. The first time a nest of acorns were found around the throttle. The second time the throttle was cleaned out. Now they say I need a new throttle body for $625. There are only 32,000 miles on the car as it is only used six months of the year. It is very inconsistent but I am worried that it is a safety hazard. The brakes have been checked. Any ideas?

Thank you.

do you have cruise control? it could be faulting, but does seem like a throttle body problem it should be covered under warranty. check to see about any recalls on it
