Thinking of buying a Honda Accord 2.2 diesel but not sure Exec or Sport, What
 
are the differences? Do you know what the running costs are for these models. Quoted mpg figures can be misleading, what mpg have you actually achieved?( In town and on motorways.) I believe I am a reasonable type of driver not a boy racer!

Defo go for the exec. Sport is good too but it prob just has a slightly bigger engine and you're gonna lose more fuel in the sport than in the exec. As you said, you aint a boy racer so just sticking with the exec seems the better choice. Plus if people as what car you got you can tell them Honda Accord EXECUTIVE - make you sound posh lol.

Performance















Two smooth and potent petrol engines are available: a 153bhp 2.0-litre with a five-speed gearbox or a 187bhp 2.4 with six speeds. Neither demands urgent driving for you to get the best from them: the 2.4 has particularly strong mid-range pull. A five-speed auto gearbox is optional with both. There?s also a 2.2-litre turbodiesel that?s refined, frugal and gives strong performance.































Ride & handling















The Accord?s steering is alert at low speeds, sharp without being nervous as the pace increases and consistent in response, but a bit short of genuine feedback. That?s a pity, because the chassis has excellent grip and balance.































Refinement















Honda has few peers when it comes to making engines, and the Accord?s are well up to standard for smoothness. What?s especially impressive is how well they work with the auto ?box. Engine, road and wind noise are well contained.































OWNERSHIP































Buying & owning















The Accord feels like a cut above most family cars, but its price refelcts this. Pricey it may be, but running costs aren't too bad. Both petrol engines return respectable fuel figures - even the 2.4 manages an average of 31mpg. The diesel is the one to go for, though. Resale values are good, but not outstanding.















Quality & reliability















It would be astonishing if the Accord proved to be anything other than utterly reliable. Owners rated the car extremely highly for quality and reliability in the latest JD Power customer satisfaction survey. They also praised the dealer service. However, while the cabin is well built, the trim doesn?t have that executive-rivalling feel.































Safety & security















Every model has anti-lock brakes and six airbags, while Executive and Type-S models gain stability control. The recent face-lift introduced the optional Lane Keep Assist system to prevent the car from drifting out of its lane, and adaptive cruise control. The Accord has deadlocks and an alarm as standard.















IN THE CABIN















Behind the wheel















The Accord has a two-way steering adjustment, a ratchet to raise or lower the driver?s seat and a BMW-style organ-pedal accelerator in a bid to ensure every driver can get comfortable. The cabin is roomy and mostly well laid-out, too. Unfortunately the view out is not as good ? high sides, a hefty dashboard and thick, angled windscreen pillars all hamper visibility.































Space & practicality















The Accord is roomy as a four-seater and will take five at a pinch. There's a decent-sized boot, too, although the saloon body limits its useability slightly (there's no hatchback version).















Equipment















Every Accord is generously equipped with cruise control, climate control, electric windows all-round, a CD player and alloy wheels. Executive versions add leather trim, a CD multichanger and electric seat adjustment. Sport GT models have sports suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels.

I ran a iCDTi sport and over 5000 miles average MPG was around 45.
