What's the lever underneat the steering wheel? '89 Honda Accord) It has an...
...arrow on it,youpull down&pushback I'm not sure what happened. But, I recently bought a 1989 Honda Accord. There's a lever under the steering wheel and I'm not sure what it's for. You pull it out and push it back in. I haven't noticed any difference in anything when I do that. Sorry for any confusion in my original question. Maybe this will clear it up? (This is my first time posting and I'm not sure exactly how to do this.)

it prob for the steering colum.

That is your steering column tilt lever, raises or lowers the steering wheel to where it is most comfortable for you. Pull the lever down and then pull down or lift up on steering wheel.
Lock lever back into place when you have it adjusted to where you want it. |
No. It isn't.

I've always wondered what that stupid thing does too...
It doesn't allow the steering wheel to move, it doesn't control the choke, not sure why it's there! No difference in anything when it gets pulled... Like has been said, it goes back slowly somewhat too and it has an arrow on it for some reason. Beats me! |
Cybertoothedcat is right - it releases the steering wheel tilt lock. The trick is to pull the lever out then push it down towards the floor - then the wheel tilt will adjust.

ya sounds like the tilt release
