When I am driving uphill in my 93 Honda Accord in 2nd or 3rd gear, I hear a knocking

sound, esp with low RPM's The knocking sound at some points becomes very loud and even bounces passengers up and down slightly with the right amount of RPM's going up the given hill. On level surfaces nothing is noticable, everything seems smooth. Even accelerating uphill it is barely noticeable. But with steady RPM's it is clearly a problem that needs addressed. I should note that it has a hydraulic clutch and am not sure if that is the problem, or a bearing of some sort or if it is the transmission itself.

What could be the problem and how difficult is it to fix? I am planning on buying this car but if it is an expensive repair I would need to renegotiate the price of the car to compensate for the repair bill.

I currently have an appointment with a reputable transmission specialist that is going to perform a full diagnostic check on it as well as road test it in 2 days but I was hoping to find out something sooner.

Thanks in advance for your imput. ;)

Sounds like spark knock usually caused by mistiming and/or poor quality gas.
