Which will save me more money in the long run? 2005 Accord or 2005 Prius?

The 2005 Accord will cost $12999 - 14999, the 2005 Prius costs $20900. I will be financing at a 5% rate. I am considering MPG, resale value etc. Should I just go for the Prius or is the Used Accord the smarter buy economically over the long run?

I will save approx $6,000 - $7000 upfront if I buy the Accord, but perhaps it will even out with the Gas savings of the Prius.

Prius for sure.

Prius resale values are through the roof right now.

Fuel aint gonna get any cheaper, its just gonna keep rising.

Go with the Prius man.

I would have to go with the Prius. Gasoline is so expensive, and the Prius has a great resell value.

If the Prius uses alternative fuels, it might be the better buy, but in 2005 the technology was still new and there might be bugs in it.

The Accord, on the other hand, is not only cheaper, but uses proven technology. I have a 1994 Accord and have replaced the exhaust system twice, the timing belt once, and the brakes once in 14 years.

Oh, and the battery has been replaced and the tires.

I expect my Accord to outlast me so I don't worry about resale value.
