2000 sir

Which one the following upgrades should i put on a b16a2 to get the most bang for the buck? just wanted to get some opinions, probably gonna actually do it next year.
Turbo kit, without all internals 2 1/4" headers, or Full exhaust system. I really wanted a turbo but i just dont got the time to research about all the parts and specs that go hand in hand with buying a turbo, so can anyone suggest which shop is good. Thanks in advance

check out S L S there i think on troy york and weston.
there really good if you need help and will get you a good price.
hope that helps

If your gonna a do a turbo U have to do it urself otherwise u'll regret it is an amazing experience and it teaches u a lot. I have driven SIR and integras with B16a I would suggest doing any mod that increases ur overall torque because that is something this motor really lacks, a turbo would be a good idea to resolve this.

ye thats true man that the main reason why i want turbo. Only probelm is im not gonna be able to put in a turbo myself because i want to upgrade internals just in case something goes wrong. im just hearing im gonna have to change the pistons, rods, piston rings, cams injectors and all that stuff, i dont know if im just running a small turbo at low psi will it be okay in the long run without internals? Thanks for the advice

Its refreshing to know ur thinking about this stuff because a full blown turbo project is not an easy task especially when ur talking about doing internals. The thing u need to remember is the b16a like many other motors h22 f20b, b18c are not low compression motors therefore internals have to upgraded in order to run greater boost, on stock internals I have seen many guys run a max of 6psi and they all regret it because the gains are negligible and they all want the pssssssh sound from the blow off valve to be more pronounced.

From my own experience with my 97 accord exr f22b1 i can tell you that a turbo project requires a lot of planning and foot work, if you want a decent set up u got to be ready for unexpected expenses.

For your situation in particular your gonna need to do internals and that means ur gonna need to put down some major cash, as an example my friend steve is currently running an eg hatch with a b18c from a GSR hes been planning for almost the last 2 years to do a Garret gt35 turbo set-up which requires internals to be upgraded, hes slowly been buying up parts like pistons and rods and titanium valve springs etc and his total cost is $2K and he still has to get the internal work done, now he has some very key contacts but hes still looking at $3-4K for the rebuild, he needs a exhaust manifold that hes getting from weirtech in Mississauga or Brampton not sure, and of course there's the tuning to keep in mind. Tuning is the actual challenge and that is where you have to be mindful and you cant afford to be thrifty.

If you need any help or you want some contacts info I can talk to my friend and try and get u the info so you can start getting some real quotes.

ye man i hear you! everyone has been telling me the same thing, im willing to put money into it but to a certain extent because i dont want something that is amazingly fast, just need something thats fun and reliable to drive and will give me some peace of mind u no wat im sayin. and ye if its possible i would like to get some quotes havn't really went around yet just been looking at turbo kits online. i plan on actually going through with if everything goes as planned in spring because i don't see the need to do it all since winter is right around the corner.
Just as an estimate what do u think its gonna cost me to get a decent turbo kit with the needed internals all installed with tuning and everything. I know thats a very broad question but i would just like to know what im getting my self into LOL at fist i was thinking around 3k would be fine but i dont know i guess i was wrong

JDMfellon 10-10-2008 11:08 PM

Your right man that is a broad question, depending on your hp goals your looking at anywhere between 3K-7K it can go even higher. It seems to me your not too concerned with making a whole lot of power just something decent from wat ur saying. If i were you I would get a t3/t4 turbo setup, some of the ones online are decent and run 6psi on stock internals and see how u like it, if your cool with it then ur done but if your not satisfied then you can upgrade the internals keep the same turbo setup and run more boost. This way your not committed to anything and either way you'll have a turbo b16a and you'll be able to control costs.

jeeta_s 10-11-2008 08:27 PM

ye i think thats probbaly the best thing to do for me, like u said i can always upgrade in the future. With 6 psi i should reach low 200 hp maby not at the wheels and hopefully alot more of an incerase in tourqe. Just a general question bro, it would be easier and less expensive to get all internals and installed at the same time rather then getting them sepratly? (this would be prior to installing the turbo depending on my financial conditions. Ohh yea by the way Thanks for the help i really appreciate it, u got me thinking of all the possibilites!

JDMfellon 10-11-2008 11:35 PM

lol no problem man, we Jatts have to stick together lol. You raise a good point, If u do the stock internals setup, your gonna have to get it tuned, now if you decide to upgrade the internals in order to run more boost your gonna have the cost for the internals and your gonna have to get it tuned again. To be absolutely honest I think you need to go out a drive some turbo cars, drive one with low boost like a gti and then maybe one of your friends cars whos running like +20 psi, and see what you like, the one big thing to mention is that either way, low boost or high, doing internals saves you from running the real risk of blowing the motor.

Oh yea, I actually might be buying a 2000 civic sir, since you have one, what are your thoughts? Have you taken it to a track? Done quarter mile? Is it fast? Any issues I might need to address repair wise? Any mods you would suggest doing?

Overall this car is amazing probably one of the fastests 1.6 liters around. I think its just amazing one thing u gotta do is find a stock one and build it up urself. mine was completely stock when i bought it, i would suggest droppin it (a must), u need to get the mugen lip or sir/type r the bodykits just rice it out, other than that if u don't want turbo i got a aem v2 intake that i can link u if u get the sir and i get turbo lol. I havnt taken it to the track yet i was planning on going with a copule of my boys to Cayuga will see if i get the time. Anyways let me know if u reaching someday will meet up

sidhuattack 10-16-2008 08:31 PM

yo u might wana check out some of greedy or blitz turbos the best thing to do would be to run the turbo at 7 psi and you wont need to worry too much about doing internals but you would need an nice 3" exhaust

AEM V2 intake thats sick how much u pay for it

jeeta_s 10-16-2008 10:56 PM

ye i guess 6 or 7psi is good i can always increase it later on after i get some internals. ye yo i grabbed it for 3bills flippin expensive intake but i think its worth it maby not anymore due to the fact that i wont be able to use it after turbo.

sidhuattack 10-17-2008 09:24 PM

yo u should smoke your front lights and grab some hids. hey if ure gonna turbo screw it just get a supercharger cause sir's lack torque

yo u got a system for ure car im plannin on grabbin somethin about 12in
hey im plannin on swappin my engine block with a silvias15 to give some major bad ass power to the throtle and im going to grab a new drivetrain next year

jeeta_s 10-18-2008 10:11 PM

holly u already got so much power lol if i had anything like that i would be doing bhangra all over the place ahaha ye man i was plannin gon smolking them out next year but i dont want hids i had them on my el and just thought they were too bright but maby ill grab 6k or something. and for the system let me know wat u want i think my boys selling his memphis audio 2 12" subs with amp, so far i bought kickers and alpine type r and they both insane if u just want one get a rockford p3 that pounds.
