2007 Honda S2000CR
Honda unveiled the S2000 CR (Club Racer), a new trim level for the aging roadster that will go on sale this fall. Designed to appeal to club racing enthusiasts, the vehicle is lighter with a track-tuned suspension, a stiffer chassis and aerodynamic bodywork additions to help improve handling and track time.
The front and rear spoilers help reduce lift. Sticky Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires, a wider rear tire size, firmer springs and dampers and larger stabilizer bars help improve handling and feel. An aluminum hardtop replaces the soft top of the conventional S2000, and additional structures are added for rigidity, resulting in an overall weight savings of approximately 90 pounds when removed (relative to the current S2000). The CR-exclusive interior has unique (but kinda ugly) cloth seats with yellow accents, an aluminum shifter and carbon-fiber-style trim panels. Air conditioning and an AM/FM stereo with CD player are optional equipment for those who desire creature comforts. Standard features for the S2000 include 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, ABS and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), which can be disabled with the touch of a button. There is no change to the high-revving F22C engine, which still delivers an impressive 237 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. Honda Tuning |
