3k budget => EG or EK hatch?
i need a car for the winter, looking for something lightweight cheap on gas, reliabile what would you guys suggest? Is it better to buy a newer car with a little more mileage or older car with less mileage? and if anybody know anyone that is selling one in good condition feel free to drop me a pm or post details. I'd consider sedans too but coupes

Go Ek! but it all comes down to preference. You can grab an 96 cx hatch for 3g's or less. I would go for newer but more kilometers as Hondas engines are pretty much bulletproof but rust loves Hondas too.

I had a 1996 CX hatch as well.......It is an awesome winter car.
Definetely would suggest it. I'm looking for another one as well. I have no time to fix the first one. |
im too selling my 1997 civic si coupe before winter hits and getting an older car (insurance is expensive) if you want pm me and ill let you know more details if your interested.

i would go with an EG VX. naked jane. you could pick one up for around 2000$ in a decent condition.
nice find. not really a winter beater but in your price range-> http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Honda-92-LX-EG8-CIVIC-W0QQAdIdZ78268692 |
ex-v or ek for less rust..

I think it depends on what ur doing, my friend for example bought a 93 cx, because all he wanted was a decent shell, he bought one for $500 and dropped a 18c motor into it, now it hauls ass but he has enough money left over to do a Garret gt35 turbo setup as well.
So if your planning on keeping the stock motor then buy a ek but if ur planning on moding ur car and swapping a new motor or turboing it i would suggest an eg. Just my 2 cents :) |
