91' PreLude motor options???

Okay my buddie has this 91' Lude SI that has no rust on it the body is mint but the motor is burning a severe amount of oil and it looks like its on its last leg. Tobe honest ive never seen one so mint in my life the interior/paint/body is spotless!

So he is looking for a swap..what kind of possibilities are we looking at here besides stock?

Also were on a budget here of a few grand so any info u got would help! thanks

we took it to ETD North and they said they dont work on 91' Ludes b/c there not easy to work on and it requires a lot of labour...F that!

The only swap available is the H22.If I remember it should bolt in using only stock Honda parts.

mostly right, the H22 is available, but so are two others. all 3 are lude motors.

1. an F22a1 out of the 4th gen(92-96) prelude S model (not type S), which has 135hp and 142ft/lbs of torque at 5200rpm

2 the H23a1 out of the same gen lude Si model puting out 160hp and 156ft/lbs at 5800rpm

but granted the H22 would be bad ass in that classic prelude. well not so classic but still very nice, specially in the condition that u described it.
oh and all will bolt in with Honda parts but if your on a low budjet, the other 2 I listed are not Vtec so less wiring and are cheaper to buy. and if you do have the money, don't get another B20(stock) engine.

Hmm the H23a1 sounds like a good idea if we can find one for a good price.

This is the second B20 engine we've put in er'...We bought a second one for a few hundred dollars, but we got what we'd paid for thats for sure. it only lasted for a year about 25K later its definately struggling to run.

And yeah it has no rust on it cause its been undercoated since new by prev original owner. :)

nice, ya the H23 isn't dohc vtec like the H22 but it is a DOHC, and the size is nice, you will like the amounts of torque. anywho, if you need install guides, or anything, let me know and I will be willing to help.
