97 Prelude looking 2 get new short ram air intake, HELP ????

i have a 1997 stock prelude auto/tip tronic with stock intake etc... , is the stock intake really better then a AEM short ram air , my goal in changing the stock intake is to = 1) get a much cooler race/ hot rod sound out of my car
(hey at least i'm honest about it ) and 2) give me boost when starting off ,

Also what is the real differance between those Ebay intakes for $30
and the higher end AEM and INJEN for $200

also how much louder would an AEM short ram air be as compared to the stock intake with that black resonator box

thanks Slick Pete

you better watch out... with posts like that you're painting a HUGE target on your head, but I'll still help with your question.

AEM is clearly a better way to go then those run of the mill ebay intakes. AEM spends thousands upon thousands of dollars researching the flow of air into an engine... ebay salesmen just throw together some spare tubing.

That being said... someone like yourself will probably not appreciate the differences, so it might be a good idea to save your money and go for sound (which in fact is NOT the purpose of an intake).

Also - an intake does not help off the line... you motor has to be drawing in much more air then what 2000 rpm provides... you really notice the intake make a difference at about 4300-4600 rpm. It also allows things to breathe easier once vtech kicks in.

Hope this helps.
