B16A2,B20B Swap

Just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about swapping motors, like the B16A2 head on the B20B block. Just recently blew the block on my SiR motor, just a big ass crack on the block. Checked the head and just 2 valves were bent. My question is.....is the swap hard to do yourself or better to take it to a shop??

Golden eagle makes an LS/vtec kit. it gives you all you need to mate the head to the block all you need is some GSR head studs go to ARP for that. it would be easier to use a b18a/b block since they're cheaper and easier to source out. you also have more options should you decide to change pistons to raise the compression ratio. if i were you i'd pick up a b18a/b short block, put your b16 pistons on the b18 rods/crank, take the oil squirters from your block and have a machine shop install them. get the GE ls/vtec kit put the head on with new valves tune the ECU and call it a day. easy 160whp and enough torque to put many swapped cars to shame.

do you know any good machine shops that would resurface the block and head and do a port and polish??

u cracked the head? do u mind me askin how u blew this motor... b20vtec is good becaues you get good tq for cheap... if u can afford to get the block sleeved then ls is better because you can machine it out to a 2.0 and then get it sleeved if you are like most of us that is out of the question... b20 is a good cheap all motor setup...

well i never really cracked the head.....i just have a big f**kin hole the size of 2 fists on the block...and how i blew the block....the nite b4 me 99 civic sir with 75 wetshot with bottle heater vs. the 92 hatch with 98 si motor with 75 wetshot with bottle heater. acouple days b4 when i just installed the kit everything was fine....booted it around for 3 days and everything was good when i installed the FPR the nite of the race and turned up the fuel just alil bit.....bitch backfired!!! sounded like i blew the motor but it was still running but i decided to race him anyways...i launched shifted to second and hit the noz and it did it again....open the hood the cone filter for the intake blew apart so i replaced it first thing canadian tire open...change the oil and spark plugs booted around to be sure everyhting was fine and it was.......drove it in the afternoon at high rpm and all of a sudden *POW* smoke everywhere open the hood big asss crack on the block right behind the headers..... i just thing one or two valves mite have been bent doesnt look to serious cuz it never melted the spark plugs or destroy it.....the spark plugs was still in mint condition thats the story y i wanna get a b20......but i wanna make sure my B20 can handle noz so it doesnt happen again....... its a bitch but hey wat can you do.....all i can do is just go faster!!!!!

if you build an LS/vtec properly, you won't need nos. the b20 sleeve is thinner than an LS by 3mm, thus making it weaker.
