how much boost can a ls/vtec handle

vtecsyndrome 10-03-2006 02:58 PM

depends..

depends if you build the bottom end, but if u think a stock bottom end is gonna hold 9-10 p.s.i. ..... good luck. Make sure u have someone real good tuning it. personally, if ur gonna go turbo, build ur bottom end, u wont regret it.

stock... don't go over 9 psi...with a PROPER tune of course.

with shitty tuning (FMU)... 6-7 psi.

With a block guard 12 shouldn't be a problem

thanks man

seem it done on bone stock LS with 12-13psi but with really good tuning, is not the boost that kills engine is the tuning that will lead to disaster

xcivicnationx 11-21-2006 02:59 AM

boost amount depends on ignition timing and fuel grade, but those two depend on each other, it's an endless loop, more boost, less timing, more octane, less boost, more timing, less octane, dual cam's are good, change valve timing to run more ignition timing, you can boost your guts out super retarded intake timing and 15 degrees ignition timing, then again, you would need boost to make engine properly.........
