what else can we use instead of oil for fuel?

Electricity, Hydrogen, Solar Panels, but all of those are limited, so car companies are working on it. We should have it by the year 6000.

Beside all the answer here, we can use our own power,... just PUSH you car. or back to 200 years ago... HOURSE . i think is good.

There really isn't a good alternative at the moment. The technology isn't quite there yet. Bio-diesel and ethanol sound like good alternative on the surface but they have major drawbacks. They both require farmland, so they'll drive the price of food up. There is a cooking process to ethanol that in itself requires fuel. In the end you use more fuel then you make. Electric cars have been a big push for years, but they are just a "feel good" product, ergo they look environmentally friendly but they aren't. The amount of pollution that is produced to make a single electric car far exceeds the pollution that a gas burning car produces in its lifetime. A lot of electricity is made by burning coal, especially in the U.S. An electric car will just increase coal pollution. Plus the stress on the grid when everyone came home and plugged in their car. Disposal of an electric car is also a problem. Hydrogen requires a great deal of electricity to produce. It's volatile. It's stored at very high pressure. Who wants to sit on a bomb?































For the moment there doesn't seem to be very many options. Good thing we have so much oil.
