cars dont swim!! :( help

ok, well i was driving yesterday at like 2 in the moring and i was turning into a mcdonalds parking lot area, and the road was fludded, i didnt see the puddle and i went right into it. It ended up being a foot deep and my cold air sucked it up. so now im kinda ****ed.

Whats my next step, i have taken the spark plugs out, sucked all the water out of the pistons. Drained oil, i rented a compressor to push any more water out, last night with my dad i was able to get it to semi crank once with the water sucked out and no plugs in. so thats hte first step its not seised. But what else should i do.

Im grateful for any help or suggestions at all. Im trying to go the least amount of money possible way. By that i mean trying to keep the engine

Its a EG hatch with d15. Cold air, lowerd and exhaust.

Thanks, Sean

hydrolock. rods bent. my guess.

crank with plugs off to get the water out.

try starting it after, does it run?

Lose the CAI intake

Spyker 10-07-2007 04:21 PM

****... well i took the starter off to make sure it wasnt fried, it works fine but the crank wont turn. I think mabey something is jaming it. Or worst case is i bent a rod.....

Whats hydrolock??

The CAI is gone, im cutting it so its a RAM intake 100%.

So i guess i have to take the head off to see what the problem is?

If a rod is bent or something sevre, is it worth it to fix, or should i just go find another engine.

Did you shut it off right after you dove into the lake? Or did you drive it.

I think your going to have to take that head off, to mee it does not sound good.

do a compression test

mikey_vr 10-30-2007 11:43 AM

hydrolock: is the immobilization of an engine's pistons by a liquid (usually water). Hydrolocking occurs when liquid fills a cylinder on the intake stroke and, due to the incompressibility of a liquid, makes the compression stroke impossible. This, in turn, prevents the entire engine from turning, and can cause significant engine damage if one attempts to forcibly turn over or start the engine. Typically, connecting rods will be bent, making the engine uneconomical to repair

well said Mikey....sounds like water intrusion to me. I'm sorry to say but it sounds like you are in need of an engine! Good luck!!

well finally after 1 month of arguing with insurance they finally took the car and got it checked, its a rod through the block, so there replacing the engine. so hopfully within the week or so ill have it, ionno how long, im probobly gonna get the shitty 1.5 d again, which pisses me off b/c they wont let me add more money for a better engine. so im pissed about that. but i will have a car again, so thats a plus, bus and begging for rides sucks, so this is a plus. Thanks for your help guys.

Sean.

You can run a cold air intake in water you just need a air bypass
