Charging Issue Needs Help
I have a 2001 Canadain built Civic (but I live in US) and the battery light is on. To make a very long story short...altenator replaced, all fuses checked complete wiring diagnostics performed. Every possible thing tried and checked at Honda USA direction. The light remains on, althouth, since doing all that, the battery is now staying charged. Go figure. Honda Canada tells me that there is a different part number for the Canadian altenator as opposed to the US altenator. They can't tell me what's different about them, just that they are. So, the suggestion from Honda is to now try a Canadian altenator (at approximately $800). That seems like a rather expensive TRY with no guarantees. So......has anyone had this issue or ever heard of such ? Any information, thoughts or suggestion will be greatly appreciated..........Zircle

Solution have you try to reset your ecu or have you replaced the battery (guessing you did even if you didn't mention above)if neither does work try a obd tester and have it reset if that dosen't work man you are of luck and im sorry i couldn't help. Maybe somebody else could help him i pretty much thought of what i can come up with COMING SOON SYKPERFORMANCE.4T.COM YOUR NEED IN PERFORMANCE PARTS!!! |
sickcrx - Well, I guess I'm out of luck, although, I suspected that some time ago. I have tried your suggestions and tons of others. The battery is staying charged, even with the light on.........for how long ???? So for now, it will remain that way, but eventually I will try the altenator route. I'm gonna look for a used Canadain altenator on ebay and see what happens. Don't buy a Canadain car if you live in US...lesson learned. Thanks again.

I work part time for ebay so ill look in the warehouses since you don't have access to them.:urbuddy: |
Thanks for your help, definitely a step in the right direction. I'll try and get the part numbers for both US and Canadian altenators just to make sure I'm finding the correct part. Thanks again.
