Honda transmission settlement..??
 

I'm really confused about this settlement. First it states that you must have purchased or leased after November 1998 AND have less than 109,000 miles as of August 2006. But then, it says something about having to have less than 109,000 miles at the time of repair. Which is it? I've had a ticking sound coming from my tranny for a while, that no Honda tech bothered to check out. I have 138,000 miles on my car now. Also, Honda never sent me the notice of transmission problems and them extending the warranty to 100,000 miles....my tranny is finally going out, and Honda hasn't even mentioned the 109,000 extention. When I put in my VIN, it says that I'm eligible, and I got the notice in the mail about the settlement. Any ideas??? It's kind of conflicting. I know I had less than 109K last August.....It didn't fail, I just had problems with it ticking and jerking when it went into 2nd gear. This was for a long time too (strange) and when I mentioned it, they said it was fine. NOW, that I'm not covered, it's a problem. I think it's shady.

if they told you that your eligible then your eligible, just take it to the dealers and they will clarify everything, my sister got something from Toyota, it was a 4runner she was not the first owner and they still did the repair.

Wait a sec...you've already gotten 138K and you're complaining? A ticking sound can't be much of a problem with that many miles on it. You needed to have less than 109,000 miles as of 8/06 IF the trans failed and no prior repairs were made. If you had it fixed yourself, its 109,000 or less at the time of repair to be eligible for reimbursement.Sorry, you are no longer covered by this program at 138,000 miles.

Transmission Failure
 

Hello... I had the same problem. This is my third transmission. I went early last year and I had 100,000 miles and complained about the same thing, that the cars was jerking when shifting gears. What they did was just clean out the entire transmission. According to them I still did not need a transmission. Now I am at 116,000 and not covered throught the extended warranty. According to the Honda Dealer they will not fix it anymore. I spoke with a manager and she said that American Honda will not honor another transmission. THis is happening to me every 30,000-40,000 miles or every 1 1/2 yrs to 2 years. I have never known a honda car to have this many problems with there transmissions. I asked the Honda Dealer manager how much a new transmission through them will cost and this is what they told me OVER $3,600 AND I EVEN GET ANOTHER THREE YEARS WARRANTY OR 36,000 MILES OR LESS. HA HA I DON'T THINK SO. I also did not receive the letter stating the settlement. I believe since we have invested a large amount of money to our vehicles they can help us with the cost for there defects. I just started my research because I don't believe it is fair for these corporations to do this to their customers.

i always thought of honda as ready to fix any issue cause they r living on there rep .

Hello. I spoke with my honda dealer and they told me that if it is now over than 109,000 than they can't help me. I have a 2001 Honda Accord and have had about 3 tranny problems the first two they supposeably fixed but I looked over my records and they only ordered one the rest I have not idea what happened. I think they just drained my transmission fluid and sent me on my way last year. Now my tranny is going out again. I will not buy a rebuilt tranny from honda. If I have to I will give someone else my business and money. I will never invest in anything that honda has there hands on.

If you want to put in a complaint speak with a manager at the Honda dealer or go directly to American Honda. I need my car asap so thats why I am just going to pay $1,200 for a rebuilt one and get a 1 year warranty or I might have to go to AAMCO and get a lifetime warranty. Keep me updated
