JDM B16 Emissions Test

i can get fake one that's not the issue i'm just wondering if it will pass ex.. people's past experiences and such also i heard if you run them hot it will pass an e-test or if i put the stock hedder on it would also pass is this true?

You have to take an emissions test under a hot rod since you have an aftermarket engine.

If your ecu has been tuned for the higher fuel pressure and other mods it'll pass if all else is fine...i passed original emissions of my eg dx with a fully built motor with ease its was tuned right and and was running just slightly under atmospheric pressure 14.7:1...check the fuel mixture try and get the air/fuel mixture as close to stoich as possible the best results are 14.7:1...try by running the fuel pressure at about 48 psi at WOT

it's still got the stock ecu will it pass then even with the mods

wot what does that mean???

Clean your EGR ports/valves. Put seafoam in and if you really wanna pass go to Home Depot and get Methoyl Hydrate. About 2 litres is good.

will never pass unless tuned to perfection:thumbsup:

I went through the same thing with my car, I have a 1992 civic DX hatchback witha jdm d16y8 motor in it, with all the same mods (minus the upgraded fuel system). i spent about $800 just trying to make the damn thing pass, and it just wouldnt. Turns out it was the computer! I wouldnt think the mods should have anything to do with it...as long as you got a cat (which you do) and make sure your car isnt running rich or lean.

Honda motors dont have EGR valves....when my car wouldnt pass i suggested it to the mechanic, and he said that hondas (At least 88-95's) dont have them.

As long as you got the right computer, and o2 sensor, the car doesnt need to be tuned...that is unless there is a reason why it isnt gonna pass. theres no reason why a jdm b16a shouldnt pass

I have a 1st gen B16 with intake and 2.5" exhaust in my hatch and it passed easily even though it was tested as an si. While I was trying to get my winter beater tercel through emissions, it failed twice so I decided to try the "gauranteed to pass" stuff from Canadian Tire. I followed the directions and it passed. Some of the catagories even read 0.00. I honestly didn't think it would work. The car was just barely failing before though and the cat was good. The problem was and still is the shitty carb on it.

SPPEDNYMPHO 11-14-2006 02:40 AM

wow dat a few good mods done passing emmisions might be a problem but u will always find some mechanic that will pass you

Bro switch your mechanic.

my parents own a used car dealership. to make a car pass emissions you need it to be hot. when i say hot i dont just mean let it idle and warm up. go on the highway beat the out of the thing and then take it straight to get it tested. if it doesnt pass. take it to your local fuel place and show them your sheet. they will mix up some high octane fuel for you with some stuff in it (i have no clue what) to make you pass. worked everytime. hope this helps
