k20a2 or h22a swap

I want to make a ton of horse power and tourque (350-400whp) what would be my best bet for a swap? And does any one know how to install one of these motors and could tell me step by step install? Thanks Nick

If you have the money, definatly go with the k20. But it will get expensive, I hope you know that. Not like an h22 will be cheap either.

if you want to make 350whp+ its going to have to be F.I. (preferably turbo). with that being said, it won't matter what motor you get...22,18b,18c,k20/k24. because your power is going to determined by the strength of the motor, size of turbo, exhaust diameter, cc size if injector, style of manifold (cast or tubular) etc. a built b16 (atleast forged pistons, ARP RB's, and fully balanced reciprocating mass) has the potential to make those numbers at higher than normal boost levels. just up the wick and add fuel. tuning is paramount.

ok you probly want a engine that you can depend on but have lots of hp and tourque. So the h22 has like 200hp and 161lbs-ft@5500rpm and the Compression: 10.6:1. and cost like 2grand They are also a very strong moter if you wanna make 300+ hp and massive tourque you could go internals fule rail, pressure regalator ect and than add a turbo because really thats the only way your going to make hp and its awsome to feal it kick in but the k20a2 is just $$$$$$$ to much money when you can save money and buy a h22 with like 20 hp less. What car do you plan to put it in? OH and i would get your self some good aftermarket springs and all that crap.

seriously.. u really have to ask this.. ka20a2 has like way more potential than an H22... H22 is outdated and there aren't an abundance in parts for them in the market as much as ka motors.

well yeah if you want to make a wise choice. h22 is fast but the k20a2 if more upgradable and faster but its all depends on your price range and if you are going to have this car as a daily driver or a race car but again it depends on who you are.

Integra 2.2t 04-15-2006 12:57 PM

ive got the h22 in my integra and i love it
no turbo yet but the added power is nice

h22 is to heavy.. go with a k24 block with a rsx-r head.. you'll definately be fast now.. and it should help you get closer to 300-400 hp.. have fun

true the h22 is heavy but it all equals out if you put it in a light car.

Premium Dude 04-18-2006 06:11 PM

No, the h22 isn't heavy. Only like an additional 40lbs. But it is said that the K-series are lighter then the B-series. Either way the differences are marginal.

phillet 04-18-2006 08:24 PM

But realy if you have the money go for the k20

gunmetalef 04-24-2006 10:08 AM

what car is it going into?
K20's are headaches into most cars

and putting an H22 in a 02 civic or somethings is stupid..
