Lowering the GSR
 

Hey guys! I gotta 94 GSR and I'm planning on lowering it with springs. The question is how low? I would like both my front and rear...lowered to the point where I could JUST see the top of my stock size tires.

Is this gonna be a problem with camber? How about damaging my stock shocks?

Also...I like my ride to be comfortable....not stiff.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....and pics would be nice if you got em!

lowering with stock shocks eventually will become uncomfortable b/c they'll blow in no time. Stock shocks were designed for stock ride-height. So if you lower the car 2" you're compressing that shock 2" already before even hitting any bumps. So thats 2" less of travel that the shock will have.

When I first lowered my car I used cheap coilover sleeves with the stock shocks. I dumped it like 2.5" too. For the first 4 months everything was ok, but once the shocks took a crap the ride was garbage. If you hit a bump at decent speeds, especially while turning the car would rebound and be kinda hard to control b/c it was so bouncy.

If you go any lower than 2" you'll have a problem with too much negative camber and you'll need a camber kit to get everything back in line.

My new/current setup is the tokico advanced handling kit. Which is a 1.8" tokico drop spring and tokico illuminas (5-way adjustable shocks). I've been for about 3 alignments now and the camber is within spec, so no need for a camber kit. I've had this setup on my car for over 5 years now.

The difference between this and the old coilover on stock shock setup is night and day. The car rides like stock (a little stiffer) and sits about 2" lower than stock. I drive it year round too and never really get stuck in the snow. This is a 95 civic couple BTW.
