Ls/vtec

I plan on going ls/vtec, I've got a b16a head, b18a1 block, pr3 pistons, pr4 rods, type r intake manifold, 4-2-1 header, cam gears. What other parts do I need to get 200whp? I have an 2.25 catback exhaust with 5zigen muffler is that to small for that type of power.

200whp? you'll need cams and valvetrain for sure and it's gotta be something more agressive than type-r stuff. all new ACL main and rod bearings, ARP head studs, main studs and connecting rod bolts you might need a 2.5" exhaust but you'll need a header with the same size collector to make the most of it. you're limited to headers because of the crossmember unless to swap it out for a traction bar.

it's not easy or cheap, i can't tell you first hand.

Go with a B20 vtec.. it will be much easier to reach the 200whp goal with less work. You will also get a few exta wtq
I know someone who easily put down 200whp and 150 wtq with a b20 vtec with i/h/e and typre r intake manifold, cams and a good tune

does b20 block have any rpm limitations? eg. its good for 6k or 6500 rpm?

well thats were the power curve, or peak is in the b20. the point were you stop producing useful horsepower or tourque. 6500 is the shift point but of course with certain mods and youve either gotta dyno it or just use ur skill and feel it out. you can make your b20 go like 9***rpm but youd blow your motor 1st shot i bet. i limited mine to 7500 cuz i know i wont be using more then that. @ ******** out in scarb, they showed me a dyno of a b20 and its power curve and then they traced over it the vtec hp and tq lines as well to show me the difference in the powerband track. the owner of the b20 vtec'd it and they had that dyno too which is wut they overlayed to show me the diff.
you looking to get a b20 jacksonR?

usually the first things to go are a rod bolt or a bearing. you can probably have it safely rev higher if you rebuilt it with stronger parts, get some machine work done and reinforce it.

in my build i made sure i did the extra step to ensure thet my bottom end would easily withstand trips to 8k. stronger hardware, trimetal bearings, proper machine work, and a main girdle.

Thanks guys for all your feed back. Just pick up a jdm b20 buttom end, so I can reach my 200+ whp goal. So far this is what I have for my project.

b16a head ported by me
b16 type r style intake manifold bore 68mm
450cc injectors
4-1 header 2.5 exit
stock head gasket
Crower valves, valve springs, and titanium retainers
Crower camgears
ACL main bearings
Eagle h-beam rods
Endyne 10:5 compression pistons stock bore
stock crank
lighten and balance flywheel 11lbs
hondata s200 ( I have p73 but found out it will not work, I've 91 integra) Help.

Someone told me something thats realy hard to believe, is that you can run turbo cams in a N/A street motor is this true.
Can I use type r cams or do I need something better? Can anyone tell me whats missing for my project. Last thing can the stock axles handle 220whp?

the type r cams should be able to do the job. you can use turbo cams but i don't see it working very well.

you're missing the ls/vtec kit, 22T waterpump, gsr/type-r timing belt.
since your car is OBD-0 you'll need a conversion harness to run an OBD-1 ECU, OBD-1 distributor and the conversion harness for that as well.

dood, if your gonna do what your doin, which is basically rebuild your motor,
why would you use a stock crank and head gaskets?
theres gaskets made by hondata or many other companies that improve your hp% because they keep the other parts cooler.
and you forgot head studs.
ARP.

wtf is a sticky,
^^^^ eh dood all i know is that the b20 bottom end with a gsr, not type R
makes the most horse, but even then youve gotta kinda rebuild the whole motor like every screw, valve, studs, gaskets....bla bla bla....i dunno if your planning on doing this yourself at home but i would recomend professional help otherwise you might, actually are deffinitely gonna encounter some serious engine malfunctions. to the point of another rebuild or sum serious dollars to fix wut broke....
just take it to a shop that specializes in honda vtec'ing or hopefully you've got some boys thAt know there honda .
ive got a reccomendation, and since youve got most of the parts all you'd pay for is labour, which i know the best around, u can PM me if ya wana know more and check out some prices or help w/e

you know those certain discussions at the top of the page, i'd say there's about 10 of them, things like the curb weights, or paint codes etc, those are stickies. Anyways heres the link for the LS/VTEC & b20/VTEC, just copy and paste is
