Need advice on how to get the best deal for a 2007 Honda Civic LX or EX.?

I plan to buy a 2007 Honda Civic LX or EX in the North AL area. I stopped by the dealer about a month ago, and he printed a paper with some numbers for me. Paper says $17,982 selling price and $19,237 total for taxes, etc. for the LX. I've recently began to consider the EX model. What are the differences between LX & EX Honda Civic Sedan? Overall, I need advice on how to talk to the car salesperson to negotiate my best deal for the car I want. Also, any other useful info would be helpful. Thanks!

I don't have any information on the cars you mentioned but I do know WHEN to buy a car. Every car dealership has a quota that their salesmen must make in car sales every month. If they don't reach that number then there are problems. Anyway, the end of the month is the best time to get the best deal from a car salesman. Also, call their bluff. I am sure that isn't the only dealership that sells the auto that you want. So go to another dealership and get their numbers to take back to the first place. You have to be BOLD when buying a car. Tell them what you want. What kind of payment do you want to make a month. How many months do you want to finance for. YOU tell THEM what you expect out of the deal. You DON'T have to take the first thing they offer. That is why it is called a DEALership.

1st- be up front with the options you really need (read: not just want) or you will end up paying more for ridiculous stuff2nd - Know what monthly payments you can realistically afford and DON'T consider significant amounts above. 3rd - don't be afraid to tell the dealer you are uncomfortable with their "offers". They should be working for you, not the other way around. Beware when their figures never stay put or are vague "around that" etc. Ask for final figures with financing, taxes, fees, everything on official paper but NEVER sign anything until you are absolutely committed and willing to pay. 4th - you can walk away. At any time. There's likely to be a better deal down the road, another town. ______________________________________________EX - has standard options with little extra. It's more than the low-end DX but not much.LX - has more options, like sunroofs, but is somewhere in between the top of the line Si editions which are made for be street-legal racing cars and the EX. Probably the most common. Lastly, the Civics are so popular right now because of the gas prices, so dealers don't have any cheap incentives but its resale value with be awesome granted you take great care of this car! Expect to pay up to $22,000 base price on the 2007s.

Go to nada.com, kbb.com, edmunds.com. Look at all the prices for the lx, ex, and the equipment, you need/want. then look at the invoice price. If you were a carlot person, you would purchase the car at invoice plus 500.00 if you are a walk in, offer invoice plus 1000.00 plus tax and licenses. You will need to do a lot of home work. talk to one salesperson, make the offer, don't sit around and wait more than 30 min. Must know what you want and have finances or cash/check/money order in hand to purchase. Give your ph number to call you back, Do not sit in the office and wait!! If they want to sell, you will get a call within 1 hr. Go to several dealers and do the same. Then sit tight and wait for the call. The longer you sit, the higher the price will get. Or you can buy via the internet. this is fast and no salesmen. only the internet person, and finance man. you get your price over the internet and that is what you pay for and will get. Again Know what you are buying. If need more info, pm me
