!!!Need help on engine swap!!!

Hey, I have a 1991 Civic and I am going to do an engine swap soon, but i can't decide which the best engine for me to swap in would be. I can't decide betweem a b16, b18, b20, H22 (J-spec), an LS V-Tech or even an engine i haven't thought of.. What engine might you guys suggest for this car if I want to get the max horsepower and speed. (Please don't think of it from a cost point of view, just best power options).

Also, what shops in and around the GTA would be best for doing engine swaps?

K20

And do it yourself...Honda swaps are rediculously easy. Especially if you go B series.

Jamez 11-05-2005 09:47 AM

K20, thats the S2K motor right? I never really thought of that one.

zman 11-05-2005 10:02 AM

fuk the k-series. Too muck work/money still. For the 10K you would spend doing a K-series swap (especially in an EF) you could build one mean boosted b-series.
IMO i would go with a b20vtec or just a b20.

K = rsx and 2006 civic si

Best bang for your buck would be the GSR, proven time and time again. Built properly and add boost in that light chassis..... :hitit:

is that a K20 in the pic there?

Jamez 11-05-2005 01:50 PM

and what about an F20C motor, too much cost?

turbocivic 11-05-2005 04:11 PM

k20 is a peice of junk, rods are weak, valve springs calapse, over rated message board motor, yet everyone thinks it is superior :stroke:

D/B/H proven many times over and over again.

Agreed.
Not to mention over priced.
For the price you could build a monster b20vtec.

Jamez 11-06-2005 10:53 AM

and what about the F20 motor from the S2000, just a waste of money? cause i still can't decide what the best motor to go with is for max hp and speed, etc.

well for starters, and S2K is RWD. your civic is FWD. Either way, it's gonna be a HELL of a lot of work.

Jamez 11-07-2005 07:42 AM

yea, probably not worth it.

F20Cs are perfect....if you hate torque

Jamez 11-09-2005 08:13 PM

what about a b18c with a DOHC vtech?

You aren't ready for a swap based on that quote....Not trying to be mean, just truthful.

4thgen 11-10-2005 10:16 AM

^^^ agreed. wait a while and do some reading...

Jamez 11-13-2005 02:29 PM

man... whatever

TopGun 11-13-2005 07:19 PM

SIR b16 is the best block to build power from............ its proven........ H22 got to hauck

B6T 11-13-2005 11:20 PM

Too much internet bullshit in this thread. Figure out what engine you want yourself, don't let other people tell you what to do.

That being said, sell your Honda and buy a Mazda 323 hatchback, then swap a 1.8L turbo (BPT) in it with some sort of standalone engine management. They aren't as nice looking as an EG Civic, but if you know what you're doing, you can easily out run every swapped Civic out there.

Jamez 11-14-2005 07:33 AM

ok, right on, thanks guys.

Jamez 11-23-2005 07:08 PM

thanks for your input, I've bought an engine now.

Cheers!

sleepy GSR 11-24-2005 12:30 AM

B18C1 all the way, you can't beat the horsepower:price ratio.

sleepy GSR 11-24-2005 12:36 AM

that was meant to be a colon and not a smily wierd face

sleepy GSR 11-24-2005 12:37 AM

it was gonna be horsepower to price ratio lol.

Machismo 01-29-2006 10:58 AM

zman maybe you are right aboult the rods but that engine is a very capable motor
especialy in stock trim i have seen k20 hit 200+ with only minor bolton and a ecu swap
iam not dising the B series or enny thing but it cost me an arm and a leg
wen i built my track car and yielded very little result
iam speaking from experience if i had to do it again i would have gone K and have another boosted B
