Noob question

I dont really konw much about honda, so cut some slack. A poor mans r is a b18 block and b16 head correct? Well honda has 3 B18 motors. My question is does it matter which one you use? Which one works best?

well thats not quite a poor mans r... but yous would be using the b18b block because a b18c1 and b18c5 already have vtec... im not sure on everythign u need for a poor mans r but u can chech hondatech they have the full build up on there

I think what you described is an Ls Vtec conversion, there were long strung rumors that the B16 & type R were the same, but while the valve size remain the same, subtle differences set them apart.

Such differences between the 2 include, Cam profiles, Valve spring count, spring rates, & Valve seat angles.

PS lots of slack... cut. Have to learn somewhere Right.....?

Well if u were making a poor mans R u wouldnt use a B18b cuz thats not a vtec block, that ud be makin and Ls/Vtec
The B18c1 and the B18C5 are pretty much the same block but its wuts inside them thats different. The rods and pistons are diff., and the R crank is balanced, not to mention the R block has a factory oil cooler...
So if u are planning on building a poormans R id say go with the R block!!
