Plugs and Wires for 93 civic

Hey, I'm going to buy wires and plugs tomorrow but I thought I'd ask everyone for their opinion on a set. So whats a good set of wires and plugs?

NAPA Belden wires.. they may have also have 8mm for your car.. lifetime warrenty no questions asked.. oops.. I cut one.. I need a new set.. :p

christx 07-28-2005 09:37 PM

im a total newb man haha. so I should find a set of 8mm wires then?

drifter420 07-28-2005 10:19 PM

Generally a thicker wire is better ( More surface for electricity with high current to travel means less resistance ).. spiro core with solid core. But don't be fooled..some out there just use thicker insulation to make wires big and fat, so people think wow, it must be good. Generally 7 or 8mm wires are sufficient for even certain modded cars.. Unless you're doing major MAD mods, don't waste your money on some thick 10MM wires or the likes. You may want to look up some other forums for your car to see if there's any KNOWN weak points to your ignition system. Thicker wires doesn't have any REAL performance improvement if your ignition system is workin sufficiently

Ok, thanks for the heads up on the thicker wires isn't always better. I really appreciate all the info because if I'm gonna start spending money on the engine I wanna do it right. I'll look around for some ngk 8mm sparks and plugs, since thats what a few people have recommended. thanks for the help guys!

I've heard NGK wires aren't very good. I'd look at Taylor wires, or maybe MSD wires.

christx 07-29-2005 09:42 AM

Ok thanks, any info as to why "they aren't very good" and whats better about msd and taylors????

TurboSupra12 07-29-2005 09:44 AM

^^ no not really. I just heard they were a cheaper wire..Sorry, can't be of any more help.

christx 07-29-2005 10:25 AM

thats alright, any info/opinion is appreciated.

I'm starting to look at other upgrades too. Im know the stock engine in my lx isnt "fast" by any means, but I'd still like to make it a fun car to drive. I'm looking at an intake, headers, and exhaust (is there any exhaust system i can get that doesn't look like a can?), is there anything else i could throw in that'll give me performance without a huge price tag or dropping in a new engine.........yet :)

thanks in advance.
