problem after engine install

just put in a new motor and reinstall my old transmission, now im having two problems....motor runs perfect and no cel's on, but the shifter is all messed up, it will go into gear but will move side to side like its in neutral or theres no shift gate. Also if you wanna put it in reverse its so hard and u gotta push it like way,way over not normal at all..... also when i let the clutch out with the car up in the air i can grab the wheels and hold them from moving. what can the problem b? its a 00 ex btw...btw i think my shiftgate/shifter problem is that i lost the bitch pin and was using a nut and bolt which are smaller then the hole, ill try putting a bolt thats snugger in there until i can get the part from honda.......now what about being able to stop my wheels in gear?

this is a confusing post... but for your shifter being so loose i think you answered your own question. and from what i under stand your wheels are locking up in gear? thats fully normal if your engines off...

i think i know what you mean. the same thing is happening to my civic. its the shifter bushing most likely. the d-rubber and 0-rubber need to be changed, its like $20. or its the shifter linkage, but i doubt it.

it's the pin in the linkage. and the only reason you can stop the wheel while it off the ground and in gear is because you don't have LSD. it perfectly normal. what you don't know is that while your one front wheel is stopped the other is spinning. don't try to stop both, you might hurt yourself.
