What is the difference between the D16 engine in my 2000 civic ex, and the B16 in

the 2000 civic si? I have watched videos of each on youtube and I have noticed that when they are both stock, there is not much of a power difference. I have a 2000 civic ex, and i wanted to do the civic si conversion. I am having problems deciding whether i should swap in a b16, or a h22. I am into more power. I do not want something that will get beat by other cars. (i am going to turbo either one)

It has to do with how the vtech behaves. You would have to get an SI computer in order to even it out.

b 16 engine last longer than the h 22.reason being the b series is used in a lot more Honda lines and is a simpler in technology wise. but b has limitation and less horses than the h 22 bigger engine overall, more horses more power. but the b16 gives more performance and longer lasting turbo or no turbo.my final advise use b16 and rebuild from ground up.
