Worried to drive b/c of shakes, but need to, please help!

Hey there. . . This is my first post on the hondapoint forum and I really hope that someone out there can help me. I have a 1995 Honda Accord LX, which has 230k on it. I've done all sorts of repair work on it and it has been running wonderfully until recently. The brake pads wore down quickly and, as it turned out, the rotors warped. Because they are apparently notoriously difficult to 'hard pull,' my friend who usually helps me was not able to do so, and I took my car to a shop to have the rotors replaced. They said they had to replace the axles as well.
After I left the shop, I immediately felt the problem occur, but when I took it to the shop they said "That's something that will work itself out after driving it a bit." Well, obviously that was BS. I am a musician, and my band went on tour for the following 8 weeks. When I returned and took the car back to the shop, they told me their service was only warrantied for 60 days and they wouldn't fix the problem.
After that littlle bit of background, I'll share what's going on . . .
When I start to drive, particularly in lower gears (ie;1st-3rd) the car shakes pretty violently in an area that feels like it's directly under the drivers' seat. I assume it's the front end...)(( It's a manual transmission...)) The wheel doesn't shake too badly, so I assumed it needed an alignment. That was done and the problem still occurs. I am worried that it might be the control arm or something close to that area - I am relatively ignorant when it comes to this part of the car. Primarily, the shaking occurs when I am at the beginning point of acceleration in any of these gears. Once I've 'pushed' the car through this acceleration, the problem seems to balance out and you can't really feel the shake until you have to gear back down and start again.
Can anyone give me any insight into what this may be?! I have spent far too much repairing this car and I really need to know what it could be before I decide whether or not to invest even MORE money in it.

I really appreciate any help, and apologize for such a lengthy first thread :)

-Dave
