help!!! 95 honda civic?

there is BLACK smoke coming out of my exhaust when i hit a high rpm, like right b4 i shift........wat could it be??? also my car is going thru alot of oil, wat could that be??????

There is oil in the combustion chamber. Either from worn piston rings or a blown head gasket. most likely worn rings seeing as in how your hitting high rpms a lot. Take it to a shop and have them do a compression check on each cylinder. If the compression is low then youll need new piston rings. The rings are cheap but to replace them arent.

gee, black smoke comes from the exhaust, a sign of burning oil. and you seem to be using more oil, sign of burning oil. i'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say it's an oldcar, maybe it's burning oil? next oil change request a good quality (penzoil, quaker state for ex.) oil, in straight 40 weight. also have them add a can of wynns engine treatment. this will extend the life of the engine abt a year if you use it every change, and keep the engine topped up. you are probably well on the way to 200k miles on there, the piston rings as well as valves are probably shot, what with replacing those deglazing the cylinders, and all the other parts that are likely worn, to little too late to overhaul the engine, time for a rebuilt one or better yet trade in to something a little newer.

Run some cleaner through your fuel tank, one bottle, so it can clean it out really good. Its a 95, so I'm guessing it has some miles on it, and if you drive like me, then you probably push oil out of the valve cover and you may have bad valve guides, or it could be coming to an end. My 94 toyota smoked a little because it only saw redline all the time. You may be leakig oil somewhere. Change oil, plugs, air filter and put some stuff in your engine that stops oil consumption. Just ask advance auto or auto zone what the best would be. White smoke is the block, black and brown looking smoke is fuel related, injectors and things, and blue is oil, could be using some. Look at exhaust as soon as you start it, after it sets all night, of course, and see if it smokes. Rev it up just a bit to see if it smokes, then look at color. If its blue then oil is leaking around your valve guides, meaning its using oil. Black will be pretty much anytime because of fuel, and white when you open it up unless you have a crack in the head gasket, then that will be all the time as well. Sounds like you need to take it easy. God bless and good luck.
