if the srs light comes on and stays on you need to have it checked. could be an airbag problem that could result in it deploying while your driving or not at all. either way it needs professional attention.

first off i have to know... did you mess with the wires under the front seats? if you unplugged these without disconnecting the battery you will need to reset the light. If not i would have it checked out!!!If you just unplugged it without disconnecting the battery then follow this...http://www.civicforums.com/forums/11...srs-light.html

There is a manual procedure to erase the SRS codes. You need to jump the terminals of the two terminal yellow SCS connector that is under the driver's side dash. You may find it at the top of the center console to the right of the steering wheel (almost behind the audio unit) or you may find it by the underdash fuse box on the left side of the steering column.the factory has a "special tool" that is a mating connector for that SCS harness terminal with a loop of wire between the two terminals of the 'special tool'. It is essentially the same type of 'tool' that was used in the pre-OBD II cars to jump the DTC terminal for the PGM system.the book makes a point not to use a jumper wire to do this. I know that every manufacturer is concerned about accidently blowing off an airbag when you're testing the system with the igntion on. I don't know why you want to clear the codes--if you've done a repair and need to clear it, fine. If you just want to shut the light off, then I would recommend you take it to a dealer to find out why the light is on rather than just turning the light off. Otherwise, the light will just come back on. Also, there are two issues with the SRS system that could be covered under warranty--a seat belt sensor and an Occupant Presesence Detection Sensor. If either of those are bad they could be replaced at no charge under the lifetime warranty on the seat belts or the extended warranty on the OPDS system. If it hasn't been diagnosed, do yourself a favor and get the dealer to check it out first. Here's the procedure to turn the light off:To erase the DTC(s) from the SRS unit, the follow this procedure.Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.Connect the SCS service connector (special tool) to the yellow MES 2P connector. Do not use a jumper wire.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).The SRS indicator will come on for about 6 seconds, and then go off. Remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds after the indicator goes off.The SRS indicator will come on again. Reconnect the SCS service connector to the MES connector within 4 seconds after the indicator comes on.When the SRS indicator goes off, remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds. The SRS indicator will blink two times indicating that the memory has been erased.Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait for 10 seconds.Turn the ignition switch ON (II) again after the procedure. If the SRS indicator comes on for 6 seconds, and then goes off, the system is OK.Hope that answers your question
