How much would it cost to....?

How much would it cost to replace a sensor in a 93 Honda Civic that makes the check engine light come on? My husband says it comes on because the air sensor isn't on there. Any ideas how much this is going to be???If he knew the cost, I wouldn't be here asking the question.....please no smart a**es, I need real answers.

If your husband knows what is causing the problem, he should know the approximate cost of fixing it

It could be one of many sensors...take it to Auto Zone the will hook it up to a computer for free and tell you what and how much the sensor that you need will cost.

If this "air sensor" is the problem it typically is on the air filter housing and can be replaced very easy. However, I suspect that your hubby means the Oxygen sensor that is typically screwed into the exhaust manifold. Some cars, my old ISUZU Trooper, have a "tab" on the odometer that flips a switch at 90,000 miles and it makes the "O2 sensor" light come on as a reminder to service this item. You can replace this yourself, too. Or if you don't want to buy a new O2 sensor, take the speedo/odometer housing off and "flip" that switch off and it will stay off until you hit 180,000 miles.

the cel can come on from the following failing: maf, 02, aicv, egr, pcv, fi failure, misfire, and thats all i can think of. all vary in price. let us know what it is. your question is too vague. hence, u will get smartaz answers. many of your sensors can be pulled from junkyard and will cost very little and are easy to install. other issues require professional.

Call or go to a parts store and ask. Call the dealer and ask.
