time to time. Sometimes the needle I own my 1993 Civic EX for 7 years now, recently the speedometer stops working from time to time. Sometimes the needle drops dead and sometimes it works fine, this started to happen last week. All other gauges work fine. What could be the problem?

Sounds like the motor on the speedometer gauge is going bad. Generally they will replace all of the motors on all of the needles when they fix it, and it is not cheap.
