You will never be too old. However I've found that life priorities tend to change how much time and energy you can spend on your hobbies.

In my teens, I was poor and had no money, so I drove whatever car my parents had. But I talked excessively about cars.

In my early 20's I worked and studied; even more poor then when I lived at home. Public transit all the way.

In my mid to late 20's I invested a lot in my driving (race cars & auto cross). In that time I attended a number of racing driving schools and put a race car (RX7) on the track. I also had a fairly stock Integra as a daily driver. I also got married and my wife was very understanding.

In my 30's I spent most of my time on building a career and moving up the corporate ladder. Also in my 30's I focused on starting a family and building a good home. So I didn't spend much on cars. My RX7 sat in a barn for a good 8 years. My wife made me swear that I will not race again once we had kids. I agreed.

In my late 30's I got into a fairly fast Integra setup and started autocrossing & track days again, just for fun. My race car is parked in a barn.

Now in my early 40's - with 2 kids always on the move (from baby sitters, to school, to sports); I'm building a 4dr sleeper Integra with a k20/k24 swap. This will be my daily driver and an infrequent track day fun seeker. My old RX7 ... I parted it out.

Remember the old saying:

Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
