My 94 civic seems to overheat when Ive been driving for awhile then when i hit...
 

...stop and go it heats up? ive put a new thermo in...reservoir fluid not circulating...seems to keep losing fluid...fixed radiator leak . Antifreeze is too expensive to keep buying haha. can nebody lend me a few answers?? thanks















replaced the thermo(failsafe)... cleaned radiator...fixed leak on top of radiator...i keep losing fluid dailey...i was wondering if i have a leak in heater core if that could b the cause?...or could it b a head gasket? cause theres no sign of antifreeze leaking anywhere.. :(...reservoir remains full...its been full for months and it doesnt flow to radiator...i cleaned the hoses frm reservoir to radiator and dip tube out today too...also my lady put a new radiator cap on. please somebody help a brotha out!!! thanks a mill.

you stated that you changed the stat..OK...how about you water pump.......may need replacing..you can usually hear a bad one , or it leaks ...a suggestion also, if you replace the pump, replace the timing belt at the same time , might as well......also check that the engine is not air bound, this is a major cause of over heating without any tell-tale....your mechanic can check with a pressure test of the cooling system..spend a few bucks and get some coolant in that engine before you fry it up.....good luck!!!

Well considering the fact that i have had a 93 Civic, 94 Accord and a 97 Accord that have overheated, i'd say it's might be time to throw in the towel buddy. my 94 Accord was overheating for about a year and i tried fixing the problem with simple cheap methods like checking and replacing hoses, sealing leaks on the radiator, etc... but nothing, the car would overheat when stopped and then the meter went down while i was traveling but would overheat eventually because all the water i poured would be gone in a flash. i had to carry about 3 gallons on water around all day, and it gets to be a problem and a headache. What i recommended is to check the upper and lower hoses and see if they exploded like they did with me. The upper one is easy to inspect but the lower one will be harder to spot and inspect. Check the water pump, inspect the radiator for leaks. The easiest way to inspect the radiator is to get a pressure air pump. Stick that pressure air pump where the radiator cap goes and the pressure air will help you find leaks if there are any. Take out the radiator, inspect it without adding water and then pour some water into it and see if water comes out.

If all else fails maybe you should look into getting a newer car. My 94 Accord and 93 Eclipse both overheated in the last 2 months so i got myself a 2001 Honda Civic EX Coupe on Saturday for a great price in good condition. :)
