Seller sold me a 98 civic but when checking carface before full purchase
it shows a 97 civic, why is that? Seller told me the car came out in 97, but it is originally a 98 model. I am confused, as other cars I checked are the same model they are mentioned. Is the seller trying to fool me?lol I mean carfax

carface? Wasn't that the movie with Tony Montana?

the VIN is always correct. many cars that are made in late 97 will be labled as a 98. as long as the vin has not been tamperd with trust it. check inside the drivers door it will be on a sticker there too

hi the car could have been built in 1997 stayed on the dear lot until 1998 and then sold and registered in 1998. Carfax uses the vin number to dae the car to 1997. So technically the seller isnt wrong.. its registered in 1998. Also some times you will see that cars sold now are called 2008 models and its only 2007. Its the way in which manufactures work becasue the newer models may not comeout until 2009. It makes the cars seem more attractive.

Car manufacturers don't use a normal calendar. In late summer they have their "clearance" sales and by September they're selling the next year's models. In a month or two, you'll be hearing ads for the new 2008 models.

If you look on the driver door on the sticker anything for october through december is considered the following year
