What kind of oil should I use in a 2000 Honda Civic LX?

The owner's manual encourages me to get specially formulated oil from Honda, but it's just a plain old civic and it doesn't give me any idea on whether I should go 5w30 or 10w30 or whatever.

They don't make those suggestions for no reason. Engines are made to work with certain fluids like your special Honda oil or higher octane fuel. Do what the book tells ya.

If you have cold winters...get 5W 30

Summer you can go 10W 30

But either one should be OK in reality
