*1996 Accord LX*
When I try to start my Accord, there is no cranking sound
for the first two or three attempts. Then the car starts normally. What could it be? Bad starter, ignition switch, starter relay...??? Other than this, the car drives normally. Thanks. ---- tb |
Re: *1996 Accord LX*
If there is no click or noise at all, the 3 big suspects (probably in this
order) are the ignition switch, the neutral safety switch (auto tranny only, otherwise could be clutch switch) and the battery. If the headlights work and the engine doesn't crank, you can rule out the battery. (The battery problem would be a broken connection inside the battery case - an increasingly common problem.) Since you don't mention moving the shifter, my biggest suspect is the ignition switch. Re: *1996 Accord LX*
If it does click then the problem is most likely the starter solenoid or

Re: *1996 Accord LX*
As others have said, it's probably your ignition switch. You can buy just
the electrical base of the switch. It is the part that has the electrical contacts in and that is what has probably failed and what you would need.
