01 civic issues
01 4Dr Civic LX.
1: The driver side window switch can only control the front 2 windows. The rear 2 windows don't respond. One of the rear window can be controlled by its own door switch. 2: When opening the driver door, the light (inside the car) does not turn on. It turns on with all the other doors. 3: If I leave the key in the ignition or headlights on, and open the driver side door. There is no buzzing. Key in the ignition is not a big deal, but I would like to know if I left the headlights on. Do all these issue point to the driver door switch or could be something else ? Thanks |

Re: 01 civic issues
What they have probably in common is that they are looking for a ground in
the driver's door wiring. Oddly, it seems the driver's switch for the passenger window doesn't use that. If somebody here has a Helm manual with a wiring diagram that covers it they can either say I'm on the wrong track (again) or they can give you details. The cheap manual wiring diagrams, like Chilton and Haynes, won't give the detail you need. Or, as Tony says, it can be a harness problem in the driver's door hinge. (It could be both: a ground wire in the driver's door hinge area.) Re: 01 civic issues
Are the master window switch and the door switch the same or different
switches ? Look at the door frame at the rear of the door, near the U-shaped steel hasp. Next to that hasp is a sort of oval black rubber plug inset into the frame. This plug has hidden under it a plunger. That plunger is the switch. It can stick or break. It's been a while since I did one of those, but I do believe that if you pull the rubber cover off there will be exposed two screws that permit removal of the switch. If you push the plungers in with your thumb, do the driver and passenger door plungers feel the same? The master window switch is on the driver door armrest. The TSB describes how to remove it. -- Tegger The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |
Re: 01 civic issues
It doesn't matter if they are all caused by one problem or not. You get out
a multimeter and select one problem and trace it down. When that is fixed you move on to the next.
