03/04 Accord 4-cylinder question

Do the 03/04 Accord and Acura TSX have the same engine? Both are 2.4L
i-VTEC but the Accord's uses regular gas and has a 9.7:1 compression ratio
and puts out 160 HP @ 5500 RPM and 161 Lb/feet of torque @ 4500 RPM and
redlines at 6500 RPM. The TSX on the other hand, uses premium gas and has a
10.5:1 compression ratio. It also put out 200 HP @ 6800 RPM and 166 Lb/feet
of torque at 4500 RPM and redlines at 7100 RPM.

Are these the same engine with different tuning or are they totally
different with only the 2.4L part being the same by coincidence?

If they are in fact the same, what modifications would be required to make
the Accord 4-banger perform like the TSX's?

I believe they are the same engine with the obvious differences in
piston rods and/or crankshaft, plus I believe a different exhaust
manifold, probably different computer settings.

I presume most of the new power is at high RPM and you'll basically
never see it, and I'm happy to use regular gas, so I found the deal of
the TSX rather unattractive, though in other pricing configuration I
would have preferred the slightly smaller TSX chassic to the Accord.
Oh well.

It's my guess that they are basically the same engines. You might want to
make another post and ask someone to tell you where the engine number is
stamped on the 03/04 Accord. I know where it is on my Honda engine but my
Honda was made in 1999. Once you find out where the engine number is
stamped on the engine--visit a Honda dealership and Acura dealership and
check the engine numbers on the two vehicles. If they have the same engine
number--that means that both engines are identical.

Same ebasic ngine, different tuning.

I would bet that it would be cheaper to buy a TSX then it would be to modify
the Accord. Pistons, head, cam, exhaust and engine control computer
probably all have to be changed. I do not know for sure.
