09 Honda Fit tire pressure
 

The low tire pressure indicator just lit up a few days ago. Checked
tires and all at recommended 33 psi.

Coincidentally, outside temperature just changed for the worse here in
Denver. I wonder if related?

Should I have dealer look at it?

How long have you had the car and how many miles have you driven?

Did the light come on when you lit it up and go out three or four
miles down the road? Did you check the tires when they are stone
cold?

As someone else hinted, make sure you check the pressure with the
tires *cold*. If you check them hot, it will read as much as 5-7psi
above actual cold pressure. If the pressure really is good, it's off to
the dealer.

thanks for all the suggestions. Have had the car about 3 weeks and
have driven about 5k miles.

I checked the pressure after a 30 mile drive, so tires were hot. I
used one of those standard manual pop type pressure gauges. I'll
recheck today while cold.

Web research tells me outside temp. definitely affects pressure, but
seems to me the computer should be smart enough to adjust for outside
temperature differences.

Ok, at lunch I checked tire pressure again. Outside temp. in Denver is
currently 49. Cold tire pressure was 33 psi, that's what Honda wants
on all 4. Indicator was still on though.

I over-inflated all 4 to 35 psi and the indicator light went off. So,
either the TPMS system reads a bit off during cold weather, or my tire
pressure gauge is lying to me during the cold, OR the altitude in
Denver is also coming into play here. Mostly likely a combo of all 3.

There are no TSBs out on the TPMS system on your car, but then it's really
new yet.

There may be something mechanically or electrically wrong. The dealer can
hook the system up to their HDS diagnostic tester to query the system for
error codes. I'd do that first.

Yeah, I would just take it to the dealer, I've had problems before
with my car, and since it was under warranty they have fixed and have
charged me nothing. This shouldn't be happening, so they'll be more
than happy to help you. After all, they get paid by Honda when they
fix something like that. So i'm pretty sure that they'll fix it for
you. Just go and have them take a look at it, before it's too late,
and they tell you that you should've been there sooner.

FYI - just called & my dealer here in Denver says they recommend
adding a few pounds of pressure for winter months. Nothing to worry
about.
