1996 odyssey
 
anyone done a heater core replacement on this bad boy? wondering how long
this job would take for someone who has never done it before on any other
car. anything else i should do while i'm in there?

How did you come to the conclusion you need a core? Did your rad cap
fail and blow up the core? You're the first person I can think of thats'
asked in a long time.

Unless there was tap water instead of coolant in there, how could it get
wrecked?

i was told by the mechanic that the likely cause for the coolant smell when
the heater is on is a failed heater core. could it be anything else? how
long would this take?
