1998 Civic check engine light
 

My check engine light came on after my car stalled out in heavy rain. I
suspect the stall out was caused by worn plug wires which must have got wet
in the heavy rain. The check engine light came on after I got the car
started and now it won't go off, even though the car runs fine.

Any suggestions? Could the check engine light be on because of plugs or plug
wires?

try reseting it (explained in the manual) if it doesn't come back on, your
fine, if it does come on again, get the code checked

Get the codes read out. They will tell you what is failing.

might have gotten somewhere else and caused some electrical problems. You
might want to check your wires--including spark plug wire-- and replace or
cover with electric tape any exposed wires. You also need to reset the
engine light. I also suggest that you buy a code reader from an auto parts
store. Get one that allows you to reset the check engine light. You can
get them cheaper on ebay but it's easy to get ripped off by buying used
equipment--it does not always work or work correctly.
