What I'm asking is: How do I change/adjust the outside temperature
display (found next to my mileage display)?
A few years ago, when i bought my (Canadian; it appears this feature
was unavailable on US models) CR-V, I checked Usenet to see what
others thought of it.
In these newsgroups, I also, discovered a way of adjusting this
outside temperature indicator by turning the key to a certain "on"
position and then pressing the mileage reset button.
However, I have forgotten how to do this.

Who cares why? He asked if anyone knew how to do it... Maybe it's just
for shits and giggles?

LOL.

I was thinking, ice cubes on the sensor to lower it, a hair dryer to
raise it......

He's talking about the outdoor temperature calibration for the dashboard
display.

The sensor is located around the front bumper.

To adjust, you hold the odometer trip reset button for at least 10 seconds.
The display will flash the increment to adjust for one second per increment.
To set, you release the reset button.

As some others may also say. RTFM. I found my instructions on pg 63 of my 05
crv owners manual.

Thank you very much for the info. but NOT the wise-ass comment about
RTFM! I fail to see the humour in these answers to a very simple
question.

I HAVE read the f*cking manual, and it is, obviously, NOT in my 2002
manual, or I wouldn't have posted the question, now would I?

I wonder: Why do some people consider themselves to be the smartest
person in any room they are in?

And if you knew to whom you (and the other wiseacres in this thread,
with comments such as "drive north", etc. ) are directing your pithy,
juvenile, and smart-ass remarks, it would absolutely blow your mind!

If you didn't see the page where it covers that question, you probably
would have posted the question.

Someone has to be the smartest person in the room. Why do you think they
aren't the smartest in the room?

you don't think trying to adjust the temperature outside your car is
funny? you must be missing a gene.

sure you would - if your reading comprehension skills weren't much good.

because some of them often are. but i doubt you've experienced such a
situation.

somehow, based on your performance to date, i somehow doubt that. but
i'm still interested to know who you think are you are - apart from what
we already know - that you're some joker that doesn't understand usenet,
who is driving a six-year old honda, who can't read an owner's manual,
and who has the temerity to demand fawning servitude as a response to
bad attitude.

I would've responded accordingly to your tirade, but I see that the group
already did that. Thanks to all who did.
Perhaps you should pursue some anger management counselling.

Well, the RTFM comment is certainly warranted. You haven't been around
these types of groups, obviously, or you would be amazed at the stupid
questions asked that could be answered authoritatively by either
reading the manual or - gasp! - picking up the phone and calling the
local dealer's service department. If it's wrong, in your case, then
so be it. You could certainly have added 'I don't see anything in my
owner's manual' to your original post.

As far as the 'wiseacre' comments, again, anyone on a group is open to
such comments. That's what makes the Internet so much fun! Every
Canadian I have met has had a wonderful sense of humo(u)r. Guess you
are the exception that proves the rule.

I suspect you don't have the guts to reveal who you are pretending to
be, as noted in your last paragraph. That's another fun thing about
the Internet, you can be whoever you want! So, please, blow our minds
with your fantasy persona!

Ladies & Gentlemen,
I (JP) sincerely apologize for my earlier comments.
Not to make excuses, but I suppose either: a) I was caught off guard
when reading the earlier responses to my query about the outside
temperature gauge on my CR-V; or b) as one poster asked, "Are you
having a bad day?" (Or, even possibly, the fact that I have often
told that there are only two a**holes in this town and that I am both
of them.)
So, once again, I apologize and thank those who responded in kind to
my question. I look forward to "chatting" with you in the future.
