2003 Accord 4 dr 4 cyl, exl Front window regulators

I finally found some time to take apart the left front and right
panels. I have managed to take off both power window regulators. Upon
inspection of both motors, the left one suffered some heat damage. I
was shocked to discover that the type of window motor used is a design
from 1970s. The motor has very primitive brush design. I would have
thought that in 2003 they would use brushless. This automatically
implies severe obsolescence. I have move the brushes closed to the
armature. Reinstalled it and it worked. The right front motor is
beyond repair. When I opened the motor it stunk. The whole thing
burned and was fused. I believe I will take photos of this and publish
it on the internet and several automotive inter-company publications.
This is absolutely unacceptable. Not only was the car expensive to buy
$32,000 CDN, but you are buying a whole lot of obsolete parts, under
the impression that it is superior to other manufacturers. After 8
Honda vehicles, I am through with Honda. Their quality through the
years has gone down, but the propaganda has picked up. I have called
Honda Canada, and as usual they feel bad that it happened, and they
noted the complaint. But because my car has 300,000Km they cannot do
much. I explained that the window regulators are not used during
driving, i.e. I do not drive with the windows, nor does anyone else
for that matter. They are not used frequently in the winter (if ever
in my case, since I do not go through drive througs). If a window is
used for 1 minutes per day (considered a lot in my case), then in 4
years it is used to a total of 24 hours. Since I drive the car the
most, the passender side is used very little i.e. 1-2 hours in 4
years. But, it is the passenger side motor that burned out. Regardles,
the equipment that Honda sells and therefore takes the responsibility
for is hazardous as it can catch on fire, or create fumes that may
cause impaired driving conditions, that may lead to an accident. Buyer
beware.
