2003 Accord recall - does anyone know the scoop?
Hi! We have a 2003 Accord 4 Cyl EX leather. It was made July 2003 - we
bought it in August. I had heard of several very recent recalls on this
vehicle including two people we work with that have Accords. They got
notices in just the past week. They have had their Accords for all of 2003.
Does anyone know the criteria for these recalls? We have not received any
notices yet. Should we except some or maybe they fixed the problems on newer
Accords? I have searched newsgroups, Honda's own website and the internet in
general and can't find out what the recalls are and if I should expect to be
part of it.
Thanks!

Re: 2003 Accord recall - does anyone know the scoop?
I have the same car, purchased in May. I received a notice in July
(or perhaps August) related to a potentially loose vacuum hose ( as I
recall) and an ECU programming problem that may occur when you rock
the car between Drive and Reverse such as trying to get out of snow
(Honda's example).
I heard that there had been an earlier recall on 03 Accords, but they
didn't apply to mine.
My guess is that your car has already had these corrections.

Bought my Accord in March, and I received "the letter", which states, in
part, "A weak hose clamp on the intake air breather pipe can cause the pipe
to separate from the engine. If this happens, the intake air system will not
work properly."
Took it to the dealer, all done. Perhaps the problem was already fixed on
yours.

Re: 2003 Accord recall - does anyone know the scoop?
We got ours in October 2002. we got a letter that had 3 issues listed. Evap
Canister, Intake air breather pipe and No reverse condition. All were
repaired by the dealer. the letter was sent in August 2003. It is possible
that you got your car after I got mine and the issues were already
corrected. If you want to, you can check with your dealer or American Honda.
I am sure that they will know by your VIN if you have any of the issues.
