2003 Accord Windshield problem
I don't know what happened last week - but I was using my windshield wipers
as usual - we had a few days of heavy rain storms. Now my windshield wipers are only 3.5-4 months old with out going through a winter (car was delivered in april and wasnt driven until the end of april early may), however suddenly I noticed I had a lot of streak marks on my windshield. I didn't think much of it as I thought it was just dirt - however after a few days I tried to remove them - but I couldn't. I took the car to Formula Honda (where I got the car.) The guy did my oil change and took a look and said looks like your wipers are worn out....he then looked at the marks and noticed that the windshield has scratches - not streaks. He said to bring the car in on Mondays so another service person could look at it.....however I don't understand how 3.5-4 month wipers, that did not go through snow or ice pellets, with the rubber still on them could scratch my windshield like it has. My wipers are not even used that much, and now my windshield is marked with tonnes of scratches now. I am extremely upset that this could happen - and I still don't understand how. Has anyone else, with a 2003 accord had any windshield problems ? Has anyone gotten their windshield replaced from Honda as of yet? an extremely dissapointed 03 Accord owner.... |

What types of roads were you driving on during the days of heavy rain storms? If these roads included highways, it's entirely possible that passing trucks in the adjacent lane(s) have thrown up road grit onto your car. (The road grit may have been loosened by the rain, especially those in construction areas.) If your wipers were operating at the same time as the trucks were passing you, it is possible that the grit landed on the windshield (and the wipers) and caused the scratches you report. Paul |

Re: 2003 Accord Windshield problem
Hello,
I purchased a 03 accord in febuary. I live in northren MN, so we definaly see a very wide varity of weather. I haven't had any trouble with wipers or with the windshield. I have gone through quite a bit of snow, salt, gravel, and rain (no hail yet knock on wood). I have had some small peices of gravel hit my window from road construction, they made a loud sound but didn't leave an identifiable mark on the window. I guess my biggest problem with the car is cleaning all the dead bugs off the window. I drive quite a bit and have put on about 10,500 miles since getting the vechile. All in all I find it to be a nice car. I agree with the poster that said that a small gravel or very small rock may have gotten caught in the wiper and caused the scratch. It's hard to believe wipers could wear out that quickly unless you had ice on the windshield and allowed the wipers to run on top of the ice. |

Re: 2003 Accord Windshield problem
My 1998 Accord has a badly scratched windshield too. I think the glass on
the Accord is unusually soft and scratches easily. There are some glass polishes that can fix it if it bothers you. Not all windshields are made equal - this is the first time I've had this problem and have owned a variety of cars. Yet another cost reduction that left the consumers picking up the tab.
