2003 Civic gas milage

I have 450 miles on my 2003 civic automatic 4 cyl
my last tank I got 26 miles to the gallon mostly city driving
as the car breaks in will I get better gas milage? if so when
should I start to see something closer to 30 miles to the gallan like Honda
claims

Re: 2003 Civic gas milage

When you fill up the tank, and then immediately drive 400 miles non
stop on a cool fall day with a tail wind and no AC running. bob

When you get the engine broken in (approximately 1000 miles), you'll start
to see an improvement in your fuel mileage.

Re: 2003 Civic gas milage

I have about 5k miles on mine, and got 36.5 mpg with the AC on with the last
tank I checked. The tank before that was 33 mpg, but suspect a lot of that
was driving 80 - 85 mph for a couple of hours. I think the valves switch
over around 4k rpm and it starts sucking up the fuel. Maybe not though.

Re: 2003 Civic gas milage

I drive daily 170 round trip to work at 85 mph and get 33 mpg. Less with
a/c on. If I did 55 mph it would go up, but I would die of the boredom.

Don't worry about it. Your car will be dead in about six years anyway.
