2003 odyssey chipkey and remote transmitter
 

Hello all,
Can a good locksmith make a copy of the key?
Dealer wants 60 +++ bucks for a key.
Tried the web found some leads but the want much more for
key+activation+service call to house wound up being 150.00.


Any idea who makes the remote for the EX minivan. It has OMRON Corporation
on the back, and OMRON etched into PC board inside but I can not find them
with a goggle search. Any ideas on how to find how makes the remote alarm
transmitter.

Why do you need a locksmith to come to the house? If you go to their
shop, the price should be competitive, or better. As for the remote, if
it's the OEM, there are companies supplying these remotes, but they are
often used. Check Ebay.

Shouldn't be more than $30. Find another dealer.

If you find a locksmith that can dupe you a key, it's only because he's
bought the $1000 gizmo from Honda that allows him to dupe the key code
as well. And, he's buying expensive blanks from Honda, with the
transponder in them.

These keys aren't cheap.

Doesn't matter. Buy one online. keylessride.com, slhonda.com,
hparts.com should be able to help with OEM units. Also, I've had
extremely good luck with Ebay; I got a couple of them at around $30 each.

It doesn't matter who makes them, because whoever makes them doesn't
sell them on the open market, retail. They sell them to Honda, as
Honda-badged products. It's not like they took their own retail product
and just gave it to Honda, and that retail product will also work the
Honda factory stuff.

I Called 2 local dealers. It seems that 65 bucks the going price from the
dealer.
Spoke with a locksmith next to where I work, beside the chip he says it has
a laser cut like high end cars.
Found a company in CA and get a blank for 25 bucks but then need a local
shop to code and cut and that's another 30 buck , so at this point might as
well give to the dealer.

These new keys are good for anti-theft but suck to end users who need an
extra key.
